Raymond Ballard

CHAFFEE - Raymond Lee Ballard, 71, died at 3:10 a.m. Oct. 27, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born July 13, 1932, in Ridgeway, son of the late Raymond H. and Eula Kitchen Ballard, he retired as an engineer for the Burlington Northern Railway Company in Chaffee. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and VFW Post 3127 in Chaffee.

On Feb. 3, 1951, he married LaVern Wiedefeld who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Danny Ballard and Jim Bob Ballard of Chaffee and Michael Ballard of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one daughter, Darlene "Sis" Lewis of Louisville, Ky.; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
