DEXTER - Hester E. Carter, 81, died Oct. 26, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.
Born Nov. 18, 1921, in Bernie, daughter of the late Herman Dortha and Cordelia May Harvey Asher, she lived in Dexter for many years, where she served with the Dexter Nutrition Center, hospital auxiliary and American Legion auxiliary.
On Nov. 27, 1941, in Flint, Mich., she married James L. Carter who preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1977.
Survivors include: one son, Thomas O'Dell Morrish of Grand Blanc, Mich.; four brothers, Darryl Asher, Gary Asher and Terry Asher of Fredericktown and Larry Asher of St. Louis; and two sisters, Barbara Myers of Fredericktown and Sandra Copeland of Park Hills.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Asher; and one sister, Ruthie May Wengler.
Visitation is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hagy Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Ward of Essex, officiating.
