Mildred Frey

SCOTT CITY - Bertha Mildred Frey, 95, died at 11:19 a.m. July 5, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born April 2, 1909, in McLeansboro, Ill., daughter of the late Emery D. and Loura D. Arterberry Hutson, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City.

On March 5, 1926, at Cairo, Ill., she married Jesse M. Wheeler who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1956. She and Clyde P. Frey were married Nov. 12, 1978, at Puxico, and he died Sept. 13, 1994.

Survivors include: three sons, Monroe Wheeler of Hamilton, Ala., Don Wheeler of Cape Girardeau and Benny Wheeler of Scott City; one daughter, Norma Foy of St. Louis; one stepdaughter, Leona Chiles of St. Louis; and six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Four brothers and two grandchildren also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time at 11 a.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. Terry Eades will officiate.

Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
