SAMBURG, Tenn. - Anthony Lewis Witherspoon, 63, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 25, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Born Sept. 8, 1940, in East Prairie, son of Ann Wolverton Witherspoon Edwards of Dixon and the late Herman Witherspoon, he recently moved to Samburg. He lived in Mississippi County, Mo., most of his life, where he was a real estate salesman and member of the East Prairie Masonic Lodge.

Survivors in addition to his mother include: one son, Anthony D. Witherspoon of East Prairie; one daughter, Julie D. Kelley of Blytheville, Ark.; two brothers, Gabriel Tyrone Witherspoon and Charles Wayne Coffer of Dixon; one sister, Marsha Dotson of Dixon; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Laurie Ann Witherspoon; and one sister.

Graveside services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie with the Rev. Martin Lucas officiating.

Pallbearers were: Bobby Carter, Eddie Stockman, Donnie Haney, Max Carlyle, Larry Coffer and Howard Jackson.

Shelby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
