SIKESTON -- Leible Auto Sales took fifth place in the Musial League this year, finishing with a record of 2-10.

"We improved from practice to practice and from game to game, so I consider the season a success," said Leible head coach Mike Brashear. "Every player I had got better as the season went along."

Leible Auto Sales lost several games that could've gone either way. Of the last six games of the season, four were lost in the final inning. The team was seeded No. 5 in the year-end tournament and lost to Noffel-Feuerhahn in the first round, again in the final inning.

"We were right there all year," said Brashear. "We could have easily been a .500 team."

Dillion Taylor played first base for Leible, and was voted to the all-star team.

"He was one of our strongest hitters, a good pitcher and was a very strong first baseman," said Brashear.

Kyle Brashear was at second, and was one of the team's defensive stars.

"He was probably our most valuable defensive player," said Brashear. "He made some solid plays in the field."

Daniel Sanders was on third and Ryan Long was behind the plate. Trey Drury and Parker Williams played either first base or shortstop when they weren't pitching.

The outfield consisted of Ryan Wright, Dr'Ares Tate, Matthew Holifield, Dustin Fisher, Tyrone Webb, Jacob Curry and Mike Curry.

"We didn't have a strong offense, but we had one of the best defenses in the league," said Brashear. "Daniel Sanders, Kyle Brashear and Parker Williams really came on strong offensively for us. They started hitting and scoring us some runs. We really had fun this year."

Members of the 2002 Leible Auto Sales team in the Musial League of Sikeston Area Youth Baseball are Parker Williams, Kyle Brashear, Daniel Sanders, Ryan Long, Ryan Wright, Matthew Holifield, Dustin Fisher, Tyrone Webb, Jacob Curry, Trey Drury, Dillon Taylor, Dr'Ares Tate and Mike Curry.
