KELSO - Shannon Hesse and Corey McNew were united in marriage July 20, 2002, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso before the Rev. Oliver Clavin. Lector was Phil Hesse of Affton, brother of the bride and eucharistic ministers were Eddie Barnhill, nephew of the bride, and Tim Joplin, both of Cape Girardeau.
The bride is the daughter of Donald and Carol Hesse of Cape Girardeau and the bridegroom is the son of Ivan and Liz McNew Jr. of Sikeston.
Music for the occasion was provided by harpist Sophie Gathman of Jackson, accompanied by Hannah Gathman on the Irish Tin Whistle. Vocalist was Donna Diebold of Cape Girardeau.
Michelle Fisher of Dexter served the bride as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Gadberry of Benton and Paula Schnurbusch of Perryville. Flower girl was Shelby Wissmann, daughter of Chris and Katie Wissmann of Cape Girardeau and great-niece of the bride.
Darrell Weems of Sikeston attended the bridegroom as best man. Groomsmen were Jeremy Crook of Sikeston and Charles Kasting of Dexter. Ushers were Phil Hesse and Eddie Barnhill. Candlelighters were Laurie Hesse of St. Louis and Donna Sumner of Cape Girardeau, sisters of the bride.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Drury Lodge. Guests were served by the maid of honor and bridesmaids.
A rehearsal dinner was held July 19 at the church.
A 1990 graduate of Sikeston High School, Mrs. McNew received a master of natural science degree in biology in 1998 from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.
The bridegroom graduated in 1991 from Sikeston High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He is sales manager at Sabona of London Inc. in Sikeston.
After a wedding trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, the couple is residing in Kelso.
