SIKESTON - Dr. A.D. Martin, who recently was commissioned an Army first lieutenant in the medical corps, has received orders to report Nov. 22 to San Antonio, Texas, for a 90-day course in aviation medicine.

SIKESTON - Hank Switala, office manager for Fabick Brothers, has been appointed deputy director for logistics of the Sikeston Civil Defense and Disaster Agency by W.L. "Barney" George, C-D director.

SIKESTON - Sikeston Brownie Troop 270 winners of the downtown Halloween window decorating contest were: Courtney Hargrave, Wendi Stallings, Julie Stoner, Kerry Bryant, Clara King, Jennifer Jensen and Amanda Vandivort. Troop 119 winners were Jan Sievers, Jennifer Allmon, Kuan Patterson, Melissa Speed, Corinne McGregor, Trisha Ryan and Tara Nichol. Winners from Troop 196 were Melanie Grojean, Debra Hoskins, Nikki Knabel, Cristy Curry, Mady Grojean, Jennifer Lomaz, Jan Felker, Jessica Felker, Jennifer Anthony and JoAnna Eastep.

SIKESTON - Becky DeKriek is the Standard Democrat's calendar girl for November. The final calendar girl from the 1991 Miss Sikeston contest, Becky is the daughter of Rene and LaDonna DeKriek of Sikeston.

BENTON - The Nov. 3 general election ballot for voters in Scott County will have no challenged positions on the local level. Decisions on the president, vice president, U.S. senator, governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, treasurer and attorney general posts will have to be made along with the challenged posts for U.S. representative and the state senator's office in the 27th District.
