NEW MADRID - The Sikeston junior varsity football team ended its season on a positive note on Monday night with a 23-0 road victory over New Madrid County Central.
The Bulldogs led 23-0 at the half and never looked back, finishing the season with a 4-2 record.
"It was a very good performance," said Sikeston assistant coach Alan Scheeter. "We were able to run the ball on them. We basically controlled the line of scrimmage. Our offensive and defensive lines played really good. We forced some turnovers on defense that helped us out. I'd say our jayvee season was very successful."
Sikeston took lead when Germetrious Dixon scored on a 4-yard run with 3:00 left in the first quarter. Bryce Wibbenmeyer added a two-point conversion run to make it 8-0.
Dixon reached paydirt a second time when he scored on a 23-yard run. Felante Larry added the two-point conversion run to make it 16-0 with 8:00 left in the second quarter.
With 40 seconds left in the half, Larry scored on a 5-yard reverse. Ryan Dicus kicked the extra point to reach the final margin of 23-0.
