Lindy Castleberry

BERTRAND -- Charles Lindy Castleberry, 75, died at 3:12 p.m. May 18, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 30, 1927, in McMullin, son of the late Carroll and Claudia Smith Castleberry, he had worked for the Missouri State Highway Department as the Mississippi County area supervisor until his retirement. A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston, he had served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On Jan. 21, 1949, in Sikeston, he married Genevieve Byrd, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Fred Castleberry of Charleston; two brothers, Gerald Castleberry of Germantown, N.C., and J.D. Castleberry of Sikeston; two sisters, Mildred Hamilton of Davenport, Iowa, and Josie Yant of East Prairie; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston, with the Rev. John Bouldrey, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in Armer Cemetery near Bertrand.
