Chester Hopkins

BLOOMFIELD - Chester Hopkins, 90, died June 29, 2004, at Beverly Healthcare in Bloomfield.

Born Jan. 14, 1914, in Bloomfield son of the late Joe and Emma Crenshaw Hopkins, he was a lifelong resident of the Bloomfield community. He was first engaged in farming and then worked for Elder Manufacturing Co. in Bloomfield for 28 years before retiring in 1976. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was of the General Baptist belief.

On Sept. 8, 1956, he married Virginia Goff who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Earl Ray Hopkins of Neosho, Randy Hopkins of Bloomfield and Rick Hopkins of San Antonio; two sisters, Mabel Wilder of St. Louis and Edith Pegg of Hillsboro, Ill.; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Twin infant sons and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday. The Revs. Kevin Eskew and Vyron Yount will officiate.

Full military honors will be conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
