Glen Perry Sr.
BERTRAND - Glen A. Perry Sr., 72, died at 8:25 p.m. May 12, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born July 23, 1930, in Senath, son of the late Charles William Perry and Flora Belle Parlimon Perry Eubanks, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was of the Baptist belief. After retiring as a chief petty officer from the U.S. Navy, he was a car salesman.
On Sept. 29, 1978, he married Shirley Oliphant who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Glen Alvin Perry Jr. of Bertrand; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Hawthorn of Beaumont, Texas; one stepson and daughter-in-law, Van and Sandy Farmer of Bertrand; two brothers, Charles Perry of Bertrand and Jesse Perry of Charleston; two sisters, Velma Presley and Gayle Carr of Mitchell, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie Perry and James Perry; and two sisters, Ruby Hesselrode and Bonnie Perry.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ted Wimberley of Charleston will officiate.
The U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Perry Jr., Lynn Hesselrode, Phil Smotherman, Ron Smotherman, Richard Oliphant and Andy Livingston.
