Roger Leveillee

SPRINGFIELD - The Rev. Roger L. Leveillee, 53, died May 6, 2003, following an extended illness.

Born March 30, 1950, in Providence, R.I., son of the late Donald O. and Estelle Larocque Leveillee, he was ordained for the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau on June 9, 1979, by Bishop Bernard F. Law at the St. John the Baptist Church in West Warwick, R.I.

He served as associate pastor for the Cathedral of St. Mary from 1979-81 and on July 1, 1981, was appointed pastor for St. Teresa's Parish in Glennonville. While serving at Glennonville, he was appointed administrator for St. Ann's Parish in Malden on May 2, 1984.

On Aug. 19, 1986, Leveillee was appointed pastor for St. Joseph's Parish in Scott City, and served in that capacity for seven years. He was appointed pastor of St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville on Aug. 17, 1993. While serving in Portageville, he was appointed canonical pastor for St. Cecilia Parish in Kennett on Aug. 17, 1999.

Since August 2001, he served as pastor of St. Canera Parish in Neosho, St. Mary Parish at Seneca and Nativity Parish in Noel.

Survivors include: three brothers, Rene Leveillee of West Warwick and Ronald Leveillee and David Leveillee of Coventry, R.I.; two sisters, Denise Plante and Elaine Harrison of West Warwick; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Canera Church in Neosho, where a prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Agnes Cathedral in Springfield with Bishop John J. Leibrecht as celebrant.

Burial of his cremains will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Warwick at a later date.
