DEXTER - The Dexter Bearcats baseball team warmed up for the SEMO Conference Tournament with a 6-2 league victory against New Madrid County Central on Wednesday at Dexter's East City Park.
The Bearcats plated two runs in the bottom of the second and added one run in the bottom of the third inning.
NMCC (3-6-1, 1-5 SEMO) was able to get one back in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 3-1, but Dexter was able to score three more runs in the next two innings to lead 6-1.
NMCC scored its final tally in the seventh inning.
Mack Taylor was the winning pitcher for the Bearcats, improving his personal record to 4-0.
Dexter is now 10-4 and 4-4 in the SEMO Conference.
The Bearcats pounded out 15 hits against the Eagle pitching staff.
Ben Pyles was saddled with the loss for NMCC.
The Bearcats were led offensively by Taylor's three hits, including two RBIs and one run scored.
Cale Williams, Josh Miller, Willie Dooley, Kermit Thomley and Tyler Grovenor each had two hits for Dexter.
NMCC was led offensively by Pyles' two hits, including a home run. Jeffrey Hunter also collected two hits. Jordan Kimball and Josh King each had one hit.
Dexter won the junior varsity game 13-3 in five innings.
