SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Tom Mathis Jr. will be the caretakers of the Country Club and are to take charge in the near future. Conn Armour, who has been the caretaker at the club, has enlisted in the Merchant Marines.

SIKESTON - Clyde Poe, coroner of Scott County, has just completed 20 years association with the Welsh Funeral Home. In addition to his duties professionally, Poe will have completed 20 years as county coroner at the end of his present term.


SIKESTON - The Junior Women's Club purchased playground equipment for Clayton Park.

SIKESTON - Two major issues, several appointments and other matters of new business will fact the Sikeston City Council when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday at the City Administration Building. Major issues included on the agenda are the utility rate increase, the city office relocation and the BMX track agreement.


SIKESTON - A critical report delivered early last week by the National Commission on Excellence in Education has some validity, according to Sikeston School Superintendent Dr. Sam Harbin.

NEW MADRID - New Madrid city employees will see an increase in their pay following approval of the city's budget. Included n the city and Municipal Light and Power budgets, which were approved by the city council, was a 2 percent wage increase for employees.


EAST PRAIRIE - Jack Tucker, acting principal at Webb Middle School for the 1992-93 school year, has been chosen principal for the 1993-94 school year.
