Doug Ashby

DEXTER - Doug Ashby, 16, died April 9, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Jan. 2, 1987, in Sikeston, son of Regina Patrick Dowdy of Dexter and Alan Ashby of Bernie, he attended Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter. A sophomore at Dexter High School, he was a member of the National FFA organization and Fellowship of Christian Athletes and worked at the Pizza Hut Restaurant in Dexter.

Survivors in addition to his parents include: his stepfather, Richard Dowdy of Dexter; one sister, Kimberly Dawn Ashby of Dexter; one half sister, Michelle O'Connor of Valley Park; one stepbrother, William Richard Dowdy of Bloomfield; two stepsisters, Kimberly Elaine Powers of Dexter and Dawn Marie Hastings of Appomattox, Va.; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Patrick of East Prairie; and his paternal grandmother, Georgia Ashby of Bernie.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert H. Patrick; and his paternal grandfather, Morris Edwin Ashby.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Don Wells will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
