Linda Hines
CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Linda L. Hines, 60, died at 4:25 p.m. April 8, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Born April 10, 1942, in Ardeola, daughter of Marie Grahm Watkins of Morley and the late Elmer Clifton Watkins, she worked for Southwestern Bell for 24 years. She was a Southwestern Bell Telephone pioneer and a member of the CWA Telephone Union and the Hooe Baptist Church in Oran.
On Feb. 11, 1969, at Cairo, Ill., she married John W. Hines, who preceded her in death on May 6, 1995.
Survivors in addition to her mother include: one son, James Hines of Napa, Calif.; two daughters, Mary May of Ridgeland, Miss., and Debbie Shaw of Vanduser; one stepson, Ron Hines of Brighton, Ill.; four stepdaughters, Brenda Pierson of Murphysboro, Ill., Judy Mezo of Godfrey, Ill., and Paula Kwas and Gina Courtaway of East Alton, Ill.; five brothers, David Watkins of Morley, Bill Watkins of Pacific and Junior Watkins, Dan Watkins and Jim Watkins of Sikeston; one sister, Ann Holman of Vanduser; and eight grandchildren, Amanda Hines, Bradley James Hines, John Lovelady, Anthony Lovelady, Crystal Hines, Justin Blackburn, Aaron Blackburn and Abigail May; and four great-grandchildren, including Kaylin Ulrich.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Sue Jenkins.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, where services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. John "J.D." McClard Jr. will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Cape County Memorial Park.
