Josephine Baker

HAYTI - Josephine Baker, 98, died April 7, 2003, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.

Born March 25, 1905 in Marks, Miss., daughter of the late Ed and Martha Hunt, she lived in Missouri for more than 50 years. A member of Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church, she was a choir member and had served on the Mission Board.

In 1921, in Marks, she married Aurthur Baker Sr. who preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Arthur Baker Jr. of Hayti; one brother, Robert Hunt of St. Louis; and three grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from noon Friday until service time at 1 p.m. at Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Concord, Miss. The Rev. J.D. Foster will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
