ST. LOUIS - Sterling Price Moore, 91, formerly of New Madrid, died March 31, 2003, at the Bethesda Southgate Nursing Home in St. Louis.
Born July 4, 1911, in New Madrid County, son of the late Alpheus "Bud" and Ethel Broughton Moore, he was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II. A lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was an electrician in the New Madrid area before retiring and was of the Catholic belief.
His wife, Pearl Lee Moore, preceded him in death in 1993.
Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Joe Tomasovic of Hemet, Calif., and Martha and Terry Schanz of St. Louis; and three grandchildren, Kathy Tomasovic of Hemet and Jeff Schanz and Denny Schanz of St. Louis.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Martha Ransburgh; and five brothers, A.B. Moore, George Moore, Amos Moore, Paul Moore and Hunter "Tab" Moore.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid with Monsignor Mike Swalina, officiating.
Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
Members of Lilbourn VFW Post 7183 will serve as pallbearers.
