Susie Rutledge

BERNIE - Susie Orene Rutledge, 88, died April 20, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 21, 1915 in Bellfontaine, Miss., daughter of the late James and Janie Richards Tillman, she was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in rural Bernie.

On Feb. 2, 1938, in Bellfontaine, she married Johnnie Rutledge who preceded her in death on April 19, 1995.

Survivors include: one son, Johnie Jackson Rutledge of Parma; two daughters, Virginia Walker and Mary Shobe of Parma; three brothers, Evonn Tillman of Sikeston, Johnny C. Tillman of Champaign-Urbana, Ill., and Fred Tillman of Rantoul, Ill.; one sister, Magnolia Jamerson of Urbana; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Saturday until service time at noon at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. The Rev. Leotis Aikens will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery at Malden.
