Warrant issues in stabbing

PARMA - A New Madrid County warrant was issued Monday charging a man in the stabbing incident which occurred Sunday.

Michael Johnson, 37, of Parma is charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action. A warrant was issued by New Madrid County Prosecutor Lewis Recker for Johnson on Monday. Bond has been set at $150,000.

According to the complaint filed by Recker, Johnson is accused of causing serious physical injury to Kenton L. Ozbun by stabbing him. The incident reportedly occurred at a residence on Locust Street in Parma Sunday afternoon.

Ozbun was taken to St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau where he was reported in stable condition by law enforcement officials on Monday.

Johnson was taken to the Dexter Police Department where he was incarcerated on a previous charge of drug paraphernalia use or possession.
