MOREHOUSE - William Willard "Skinner" Westmoreland Jr., 82, died at 6:10 p.m. April 23, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 27, 1920, in Sikeston, son of the late William Willard and Dink Oliver Westmoreland Sr., he was a self-employed construction contractor, retiring in 1977, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Feb. 2, 1940, in New Madrid County, he married June Janette Turner who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1946. He and Georgia Evelyn Simpson were married July 10, 1950, and she died on Feb. 21, 1991.

Survivors include: two sons, Bill Westmoreland of Sikeston and Gary Westmoreland of Cleburne, Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Westmoreland of Sherman, Texas, and Sonny Westmoreland of Moline, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Tamela Lynn, Randy Westmoreland, Maresa Green, Wesley A. Westmoreland, Paul Allen Hatley, Gidget Cochran, Wesley Westmoreland, C.J. Masegian and Kenneth Masegian; 13 great-grandchildren, Sarah Westmoreland, Bethany Westmoreland, Joshua Hatley, Zachary Hatley, Gavin Hatley, Cody Forester, Christian Lynn, Nickie Purnell, Dustin Nall, Tracy Green Jr., Stephanie Green, Colton Cochran and Kinsey Cochran; and one great-great-grandson, Gabriel Forester.

Two brothers also preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Jerry Adams, minister of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.

The Missouri Military Funeral Honors Guard will conduct military graveside rites at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
