Eugene Swinford

SCOTT CITY - Eugene Swinford, 72, died at 4:55 a.m. March 25, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 7, 1930, in Bell City, son of the late Luther and Gertrude Bass Swinford, he retired as a machinist for Braswell in Cape Girardeau and was of the Baptist belief. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

On Jan. 1, 1981, in Scott City, he married Sharon Livingston who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Robert Rhymer, Mike Rhymer and Johnny Adams of Scott City; Gina Byars of Symsonia, Ky., Tina Gerlach of Cape Girardeau and Rhonda Raines of Scott City; two brothers, Lester "Red" Swinford of Advance and Billy Swinford of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Lillian "Sis" Kaempfer of Cape Girardeau; and 12 grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Charles Marshall will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery at Perkins.
