DEXTER - Robert Van Fowler, 68, died Aug. 17, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 27, 1934, at Risco, son of the late James Robert and Pearl Iva Cecil Fowler, he was a service technician for Chrisman Oil in Dexter for 28 years. He was affiliated with the Big Ridge General Baptist Church in Matthews.

On Jan. 9, 1954, in Kennett, he married JoAnn Holt who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Bill Fowler and Gary Fowler of Dexter and Alan Fowler of Dudley; one daughter, Patty Noe of Lilbourn; two brothers, Charles Fowler of Essex and Jerry Fowler of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Inez Gregory of Pontiac, Mich., and Madeline Westmorlan and Judy Gainer of Dexter; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Gaylord Grindstaff will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bluff Cemetery at Idalia.
