PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. - Ronnie Gene Long, 57, died Sept. 24, 2003, in Pass Christian.

Born Sept. 3, 1946, in Charleston, Mo., son of the late John E. and Ethel A. Long Sr., he was a former resident of Sikeston, Mo., and attended Sikeston schools. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 and retired as a master gunnery sergeant after 36 years of service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, N.C.

His wife, Mary Sue Sawyer Long, survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Jeff Long of Sikeston, William Hosea of Phoenix, Ariz., and Thomas Hosea of Las Vegas, Nev.; six sisters, Fredia Williams of Hamsburg, Ill., Doris Riley of Blodgett, Mo., Shirley DeWitt and Diane Ledbetter of Sikeston, Brenda Manker of Murray, Ky., and Sherry Howell of New Madrid, Mo.; three brothers, John E. Long Jr. of Aurora, Ill., Bobby D. Long of Sikeston and Richard Long of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Long and Charles Long; and a niece, Tammy Parker.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.

Burial will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
