George Mazurkiewicz

SIKESTON -- George Mazurkiewicz, 75, died Sept. 28, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 6, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Stefan and Josephine Mazurkiewicz, he was a member of the First Assembly of God in Ladish County in Milwaukee. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean War and was a machinist before retiring.

On July 2, 1988, in Zion, Ill., he married Mary Jester, who survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include: two sons, George Mazurkiewicz and Richard Mazurkiewicz of South Milwaukee; one daughter, Betty Tavidian of Denver, Colo.; one stepson, Randy Massey of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Sherry Mitchell of Kankakee, Ill.; two sisters, Arlene Mazurkiewicz and Alice Mazurkiewicz of Milwaukee; four grandchildren, Lara Disner of Arvada, Colo., Mary Leroy, Arwen Mitchell and Abby Mitchell of Kankakee; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Disner of Arvada and Landon Massey and Logan Massey of Jacksonville, Fla.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Garrett Jester, a United Pentecostal minister, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Holy Resurrection Armenian Cemetery in Milwaukee.
