Truman Campbell

PUXICO - Truman Boyd Campbell, 79, died Oct. 13, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 26, 1924, in Puxico, son of the late Hobert Roy and Ester Crews Campbell, he was a lifelong resident of Puxico. He had been an iron worker and over-the-road truck driver before retiring. A member of the First Christian Church of Puxico, he was also a member of VFW Post 7822 in Puxico and the Teamsters Union. He was a deep sea diver on a sub tender while serving with the U.S. Navy.

On Sept. 28, 1946, in Piggott, Ark., he married Thelma Kitchen who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Randy Olmsted of Wappapello and Becky and Kirk Folse of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Herman Campbell and Bucky Campbell of Puxico; one sister, Genevieve Williams of Aid; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Jacqueline Reneé Campbell, preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 1967.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where military rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. by VFW Post 7822.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico and the Rev. David Rusch of Poplar Bluff officiating.

The Stoddard County Veterans Honor Team will conduct military graveside rites at the Puxico Cemetery.
