BENTON - Bobby Gene Beck, 67, died at 6:55 p.m. Oct. 13, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Dec. 13, 1935, in Hayti, son of the late Raymond and Nellie Beck Darnell, he was a truck driver for ABF for 32 years before retiring in 1998. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441 in Jackson and life member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

On Jan. 2, 1954, at Hayti, he married Mary Franks who preceded him in death.

He and Martha Clessen were married Jan. 16, 1982, in Jackson, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Jim Haines of Sikeston; five daughters, Donna Ellis of Paris Landing, Tenn., Karen Shackles of Cape Girardeau, Judy Lair of Madisonville, Ky., Martha Burns of Bakersfield, Calif., and Rhonda Cox of Levelland, Texas; one brother, Rick Darnell of Braggadocio; one sister, Mary Phillips; and 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

One brother also preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Thompson will officiate.

The Missouri Honors Program will conduct military graveside rites at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti.

Pallbearers will be: Melvin McCurter, Dan Sisco, Lloyd Masterson, Johnny Shell, Bernard Daniel and Bob Goza.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Haines, Adam Haines, Joe Gibbs and Dennis Gibbs.
