SIKESTON - Eunice E Abernathy, 79, a resident of the Miner Nursing Center, died at 11:15 p.m. Sept. 23, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Nov. 15, 1923, in Grayridge, daughter of the late John Benjamin and Ruth Whitman Bailey, she had worked in the cafeteria at the Sikeston Middle School and was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church.
On Sept. 13, 1941, in Charleston, she married G.L. Abernathy who preceded her in death on July 11, 1995.
Survivors include: one son, Les Abernathy of Valrico, Fla.; one daughter, Pat Dickie of East Moline, Ill.; and five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Steve Tippen, pastor of North Acres General Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Bud Miller, Bill Hupp, Robert Ray Forsythe, Eugene Miller, John Cohen, Bud Dock and Earl Watson.
