SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Garwood Sharp and son, Garwood Jr., moved from Poplar Bluff Tuesday into property owned by Roy Duncan on Vernon Street. Mr. Sharp will be associated with his father in business at Mitchell-Sharp Chevrolet Co.

SIKESTON - Sale of intoxicating liquors and beer were prohibited within the Sikeston city limits for 36 hours after announcement of the defeat of Germany, the city council declared Tuesday night.

SIKESTON - The ladies of the United Church Women of Sikeston are already busily engaged in getting ready for the annual visitation of the UNICEF children which is sponsored by the church women every year. The chairman for this year's UNICEF foray is Mrs. Oren Dahl.

SIKESTON - The top sellers of the Soccer Dollars program were given gift certificates from Sikes Sporting Goods for $50, $30 and $25 during the Sikeston Evening Optimist meeting Thursday night. According to members, $2,886 were sold by team members of the Sikeston Youth Soccer League with the dollars being applicable to meals at Papa D's Restaurant.

NEW MADRID - The first load of coal delivered by railroad to the Associated Electric Cooperative power plant arrived Tuesday.

SIKESTON - Grace Greenfield was guest of honor Sept. 30 at Lambert's Cafe in observance of her 95th birthday. Twelve of her friends and relatives gathered to celebrate with the 20-year Sikeston resident and retired nurse. After dinner, guests were served cake and ice cream at the home of Harold and Mary Alice Springs.
