CROSBY, Texas - Robert "Bob" Mitchem,, 57, died July 27, 2003, in Houston.

Born Jan. 15, 1946, in Lilbourn, Mo., he was the son of Madalyn Mitchem Atkin of Venice, Fla., and the late Bill Mitchem. He lived in Lilbourn until age 17 and again in the 1970s. A graduate of Venice High School, he lived in the Houston area since 1978. Mitchem served with the U.S. Army in Korea and Vietnam and was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge. He was vice president of research and development for Rescar Inc. in Houston and held several patents for equipment design and process application.

His wife, Cindy Mitchem, survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: two daughters, Malani Mitchem and Malia Mitchem of Lake Charles, La.; two brothers, Bill Mitchem of Jacksonville, Fla., and Philip Mitchem of Nokomis, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Private services were conducted in Crosby.
