SIKESTON - The Sikeston gridmen grappled with the Caruthersville Tigers Wednesday night in a scoreless battle, waged on the Sikeston field before a crowd of over 1,000 fans.

CHARLESTON - Three school districts in Mississippi County, Charleston, Anniston and Fox, will be reorganized into one district. Voters favored the reorganization plan by a vote of 1,111 to 167.


BENTON - When disadvantages begin to outweigh advantages, a dry spell suddenly becomes a drought. And conditions in more and more of Scott County are being termed "drought" as the 28th rainless day is recorded.

Oct. 19, 1983

SIKESTON - Sikeston Department of Public Safety, along with state liquor control officers, entered several local taverns and confiscated $6,000 worth of reportedly stolen items and two pounds of marijuana.

SIKESTON - Fall Homecoming Queen Judee Williams was crowned at the 1993 Fall Sports Dance, conducted at Sikeston Senior High School. Members of the queen's court and their escorts were Jan Felker, Leslie Winchester, Amy Matthews and Leslie Evans.
