Sikeston's Lincoln runs a close second in SEMO Conference meet

POPLAR BLUFF -- Sikeston's Clay Lincoln came in second place in the SEMO Conference cross country meet in Poplar Bluff on Thursday.

Lincoln finished just 12 seconds behind Poplar Bluff's John-Mark Lewis, who won the event.

Lewis led the Mules to a first place finish with 45 points. Notre Dame came in second with 58, followed by Cape Central at 60, Kelly at 104, Jackson at 134 and Sikeston at 185.

For Kelly, Michael Glastetter came in eight place with a personal best time of 17:23. Trey Simmons was also all-conference, finishing 10th at 17:36.

Jordan Felter came in 25th, Derrick Brucker placed 30th and Brandon Ayers came in 31st.

Cape Central won the varsity girls race with 20 points, followed by Jackson with 35, Poplar Bluff with 96, Kelly with 102 and Notre Dame with 107.

For Kelly, Amber Dirnberger took 12th place with a time of 22:53. Emily Strobel came in 14th place at 23:23, and Lauren Gean took 19th at 23:34.

Nikki Weiney came in 27th place, Samantha Barber took 30th, Stephanie Payne finished 31st and Leigh Ann Bucheit came in 33rd.

In the junior varsity boys race, Nathan Burford placed 31st, Joseph Caldwell came in 34th, Spencer Ayers took 36th, Dustin Cramner came in 47th and Brian Robinson came in 49th.

In the junior varsity girls race, Janessa Burford took 32nd, Ashley Seyer came in 33rd, Katie Powell placed 34th and Ashley Nall took 35th. Kelly will travel to North County on Saturday.
