SIKESTON -- Coy G. McDowell, 76, died March 27, 2003, at his residence.

Born May 11, 1926, in Morehouse, son of the late Walter and Ruby Burns McDowell, he was a self-employed painter and drywall hanger. He served in the U.S. Army 24th Infantry during World War II and was of the Pentecostal belief.

On May 17, 1947, in Londre, Ark., he married Martha Lou Kelley who preceded him in death on July 4, 1994.

Survivors include: two sons, Davey Roger McDowell of Charleston and Barry Wayne McDowell of Sikeston; two daughters, Sue Sisco of Sikeston and Melodie Jo Burnett of Benton; three brothers, Bill McDowell and Frank McDowell of Sikeston and Gene McDowell of Wappapello; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. J.S. Kimbro, pastor of the Harvestime Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in East Prairie, will officiate.

The Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard will conduct graveside military rites at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
