CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Lura Lee Cook Mills, 81, died March 26, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Born May 26, 1921, at Bernie, daughter of the late Jess Lee and Annie Neeley Cook, she was a retired school teacher and had taught at St. Louis Public Schools and Bernie Public Schools. A member of the Bethany General Baptist Church of Campbell, she was also a founder of the Three Rivers Community College Library in Poplar, where she had worked until her retirement...

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Lura Lee Cook Mills, 81, died March 26, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 26, 1921, at Bernie, daughter of the late Jess Lee and Annie Neeley Cook, she was a retired school teacher and had taught at St. Louis Public Schools and Bernie Public Schools. A member of the Bethany General Baptist Church of Campbell, she was also a founder of the Three Rivers Community College Library in Poplar, where she had worked until her retirement.

On Aug. 18, 1955, at Broseley, she married Wendell Warren Mills, who preceded her in death on July 12, 2002.

Survivors include: one son, Glenn Mills of Birmingham, Ala.; one sister, Harriet Cook of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Barry Mills and Amanda Mills; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Dawsey Brown will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery near Campbell.
