Hills races to first victory
SIKESTON -- Here are Saturday's results from the Sikeston Drag Strip:
SUPER PRO
Linden Hills of Fremont posted his first win of the season in the Super Pro Class. With a 5.23 dial he ran 5.28 at 121 m.p.h. His reaction time was .522. Second place went to Don Cutsinger, of Calvert City, Ky. Cutsinger dialed a 6.61 but mechanical problems on the starting line aborted his run.
PRO CLASS
St. Charles' Steve Pearson won the Pro Class, for his second win of the season. He dialed 6.81 and ran 6.89 at 94 m.p.h. His reaction time was .602. Blake Jones took second place. He dialed 6.52 and ran 6.72 at 100 m.p.h. His reaction time was .577.
E.T. CLASS
Sikeston's David Leonard put his Chevy Truck in the winner's circle of the E.T. Class. With an 11:04 dial, he ran 11:29 at 53 m.p.h. His reaction time was .505. Dexter's Donnie Mayfield took second place. He dialed 8.48 and ran 9.07 at 78 m.p.h. His reaction time was .546.
SEMO RACEWAY
SIKESTON -- Semo Raceway, located on State Highway U Sikeston MO, officially kicked off the 2003 racing season Saturday with a "Test & Tune and "Swap Meet" for local racers. The weather could not have been any better for the 75-plus kart and micro sprint entries with racers and their families and pit crews coming from Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas as well as our local Missourians.
The Test and Tune is a special day for race teams to come out and test their Karts and Micro Sprints and to get a feel for the track. Many were also preparing for the upcoming added money shows to be held at Semo Raceway on April 5 and April 12.
