Marvin Perry

CENTRALIA - Marvin Johnson Perry Sr., 87, died at 5 p.m. July 25, 2003, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Center.

Born Aug. 12, 1915, in Hornersville, son of the late Walter A. and Maude Perry, he served in the European Theater of World War II and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired in 1959 from the military service as a chief warrant officer 4. Perry was employed with the Missouri Division of Employment Security for 19 years as a claim supervisor, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mexico, Mo.

On Oct. 5, 1941, in Benton, he married Martha Mildred Summers who preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1989.

Survivors include: one son, Paul Perry of Centralia; two brothers, Bond Perry of Sikeston and Howard Perry of Michigan; one sister, Jean Lyle of Versailles; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with Gary Crumly officiating.

The Missouri Honor Team will conduct military graveside rites at Cape County Memorial Park.
