SIKESTON -- John Ell Burton, 57, died at 5 a.m. July 23, 2003, at his home.
Born June 8, 1946, in Snow Lake, Ark., son of the late Louie and Ruby Edwards Burton, he worked in factory general labor and lived most of his life in Sikeston. A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114.
On Aug. 5, 1978, in Sikeston, he married Vina Flanigan.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lesley Burton of Benton; two brothers, Alfred Burton of Sikeston and Charles Lynn Williams of Joplin; one sister, Linda King of Atteboro, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Brian Flanigan, pastor of the Oran Pentecostal Church, will officiate.
The Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
