SCOTT CITY - Vernon Edward Zimmerman, 67, died March 31, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 8, 1935, in Fornfelt, son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Anna Lee Cambron Zimmerman, he was a retired riverboat pilot and U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Scott City, Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 in Cape Girardeau, Cape Shriner's Club and the Moolah Temple in St. Louis.
Survivors include: one son, Richard Zimmerman of Waltonville, Ill.; one daughter, Melinda Sides of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Lloyd Zimmerman of Scott City and Douglas Zimmerman of Spokane, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
One daughter and one sister preceded him in death.
No visitation is scheduled.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. today at the First Assembly of God Church in Scott City with the Rev. Randy Morse, officiating.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Scott City is in charge of arrangements.
