SIKESTON - Sgt. Ralph Carroll, son of Mrs. Emma Carroll of Sikeston, was among those who received two Oak Leaf Clusters to the Air Medal for outstanding action in the air in action in North Africa.
SIKESTON - The Tuesday morning Ladies League held its league-ending luncheon and awards presentations at Imperial Lanes yesterday afternoon. The Pin-ups league champs were presented individual trophies. Members of the winning team are Virginia Holsinger, Carl Tanner, Olga Hux and Kathleen Wissman. The Whiffys, Henrietta Ferrell, June Watson, Jackie Old and Della McClure finished in second place.
SIKESTON - The cast for "Alice in Wonderland," slated for production in May, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the Chaney-Harris Cultural Center. Starring as Alice in the Sikeston Little Theatre production will be Sandra Wilmurty.
The Rabbit will be portrayed by Sarah Boyce.
CHARLESTON - Revisions to Mississippi County's Emergency Management Plan were reviewed Thursday by the County Commission and representatives from East Prairie and Charleston. The management plan clarifies areas of responsibility from the commission down to the municipal level and coordinates basic plans that should be taken in emergency situations, ranging from chemical spills to natural disasters such as earthquakes.

DEXTER - A skate-a-thon is being planned from 6 to 9 p.m. April 15 at Slade's Skate, 1538 W. Business 60 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. "We need everyone to help by donating funds and actively participating," said Slade Stratman, chairperson for the event.
