William Sharp

DEXTER - William A. Sharp, 83, died July 24, 2003, at the Advance Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 10, 1919, at Elco, Ill., he was a former resident of Dexter and was residing in Anna, Ill. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a former millwright with National Steel at Granite City, Ill.

On Sept. 8, 1948, at Jonesboro, Ill., he married Edna Mae Warnhoff who preceded him in death on June 7, 1989. On Dec. 21, 1990, at Wickliffe, Ky., he married Edna Mae Davis who survives of the home in Anna.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Robert Sharp of Springfield, Raymond Sharp of Granite City, Ill., and Ronald Sharp and Alan Sharp of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Sandy Callaway of Daisy and Kathy Rainey of Advance; two stepsons, Joshua Davis of Alto Pass, Ill., and Gary Wayne Davis of Anna; four stepdaughters, Patty Diaz and Carolyn Foster of Anna, Anna Patterson of Sandusky, Ill., and Bertie Barnett of Pittsburgh, Ill.; and 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Ed Mangus officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
