Gloria Kiehne

JACKSON - Gloria M. Kiehne, 82, formerly of Sikeston, died Feb. 6, 2004, at her home.

Born March 3, 1921, in Batesville, Ark., daughter of the late Adolph and Alma Walker Mohrstadt, she was a director at the Jackson Public Library for nine years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ where she was past president of the Lydia Kies Circle. Also a member of the General Federated Women's Clubs, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Nature Conservancy and Jackson Park Board, she was a charter member of LA of PEO Sisterhood and was member and past president of the Jackson Heritage Association.

On Feb. 18, 1939, she married Harold F. Kiehne who preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1972.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James H. and Anita Kiehne of St. Louis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Liz and Jesse Perry of Farmington and Kris Kiehne and Tom Cumpston of Placerville, Calif.; four grandchildren, Matthew Kiehne, Nathan Kiehne, Nici Smith and Joel Perry; one great-grandson, Christian; and a special friend, Bern Schaper of Jackson.

Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Sue Kiehne; one brother, Adolph Mohrstadt; and one great-grandson, Wyatt.

A memorial service was conducted Sunday at Emanuel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
