Anna Wheatley

ANNISTON - Anna Bernice Wheatley, 66, died at 11:36 a.m. April 12, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Oct. 5, 1937, in New Madrid County, daughter of the late Edmund Poynor and Audie Ginn Poynor Powers, she lived in Mississippi County most of her life and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in East Prairie. After being employed by Prairie Manufacturing Company for 19 years, she was a health care provider for nine years.

In 1956, she married Robert E. Wheatley who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Darrell Wheatley of Bertrand and Doyle Wheatley, Richard Wheatley and David Wheatley of East Prairie; three daughters, Diane Cobb of Sikeston, Janet Williams of East Prairie and Charlotte Morris of Parma; two half brothers, Vernon Poynor of Piedmont and Ed Poynor of Kewanee; one stepbrother, Raymond "Jug" Powers of East Prairie; and 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Six brothers preceded her in death.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. Steve Johnson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Anniston Cemetery.
