SIKESTON - Dennis John Crowley, 80, formerly of Evanston, Ill., died at 2:37 a.m. Jan. 28, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 1, 1923, in Rochester, N.Y., son of the late Dennis Leo and Mary Estelle Kavanaugh Crowley, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and of the Catholic belief. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he majored in political science, he had been a sales manager and buyer for Marshall Field & Company for 20 years before retiring.

On April 30, 1949, he married Charlotte M. Bancel who preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1997.

Survivors include: one son, Paul J. Crowley of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; one daughter, Anne E. Crowley of Sikeston; one brother, Thomas Crowley of Rochester; one sister, Mary Crowley of Plant City, Fla.; and one granddaughter, Eleanor Crowley of Buffalo Grove.

The Rev. Stephen Schneider, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, will conduct a private prayer service with the family.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Graveside committal services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill. The Rev. Jim Heyd of St. Athanasius Catholic Church will officiate.
