BLOOMFIELD - J.P. Cook, 80, died Jan. 27, 2004, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born May 14, 1923, in Bloomfield, son of the late Judy Paul and Isabelle Cline Cook Sr., he was a truck driver for Valley Steel for 23 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 153 AF&AM, both of Bloomfield.
On April 29, 1944, he married Bertie Duffey who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three brothers, James Cook of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bob Cooke of Bellvedere, Ill., and Eldon Cook of Florissant; and one sister, Ruth Ann Wilson of Chicago, Ill.
One sister, Jewell Scott, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday. The Revs. Kevin Eskew and Greg Stevens will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
