DEXTER - Jewel Dean Grady, 76, died March 14, 2004, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.
Born June 14, 1927, at Batesville, Ark., daughter of the late J.B. and Vandora Haddock Grady, she was a member of the Bernie Church of Christ. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Harding University in Searcy, Ark., and earned a masters degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. A member of the University of Missouri Extension Association for more than 30 years, she was involved with numerous extension clubs throughout the state and retired as a home economist. She was a leader and teacher of many programs, including Sew With Cotton, 4-H Clubs and the Homemakers Club, later named the Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Grady, Paul Grady, M.H. "Hamp" Grady and Walter P. Grady; one sister, Rose Grady; and one sister-in-law, Dora Grady.
Survivors include: three sisters-in-law, Helen Grady of Sikeston, Ellen Grady of Fairview Heights and Georgia Shearer of Benton; and four nephews, two nieces, 16 great-nieces and nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday. Stan Dauck and Jim Faughn will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
