Helen Furlong

ORAN - Helen Marie Furlong, 76, died at 5:10 p.m. Dec. 10, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Feb. 28, 1927, in Canalou, daughter of the late Joe and Alma Ploense Schacherbauer, she was a machine operator for Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau and a janitor for Oran Grade School before retiring. She was of the Baptist belief.

She first married Billy Sadler, who preceded her in death. On Jan. 8, 1968, she married Wayne Edison Furlong and he died on March 4, 1981.

One daughter, one sister and two brothers also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three sons, Stephen Sadler and Gary Sadler of Morley and Larry Sadler of Oran; two daughters, Barbara Carpenter of Blodgett and Brenda James of Miner; two brothers, Harry Schacherbauer of Tucson, Ariz., and Herman Schacherbauer of Dexter; and 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Don Russell will officiate.

Burial will follow in the New Morley Cemetery at Morley.
