SIKESTON - A Sikeston man is facing multiple drug and traffic charges related to a high-speed chase.

According to Sikeston Department of Public Safety officials, James Ivie, 46, was charged Thursday with attempting to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of the meth ingredient ephedrine "plus numerous traffic tickets" and is being held at DPS on $100,000 bond.

DPS detectives investigating methamphetamine manufacturing activities had been seeking Ivie and spotted him heading west on Wakefield in a vehicle at approximately 1:10 a.m.

Officers turned on their emergency lights to stop the vehicle and began pursuit when the vehicle refused to pull over.

According to DPS reports, officers pursued the vehicle until it pulled over by a field on the 1800 block of State Highway Z.

Ivie reportedly bailed from the vehicle and fled. A short foot chase followed with Ivie and the arresting officer wading across a ditch in chest-high water before Ivie was apprehended.
