CAPE GIRARDEAU - William Robert Davis, 86, died at 1:17 p.m. Aug. 29, 2004, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Born Oct. 1, 1917, in Blodgett, son of the late Orvel and Maud Grissom Davis, he was a self-employed farmer and member of Unity Baptist Church in Benton and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war for one and one-half years.

On July 24, 1954, at Chaffee, he married Neva Dundee Dale who preceded him in death on Nov. 15, 1982.

Survivors include: one son, Danny Davis of Benton; two stepsons, Lynn Treadway of Yuba City, Calif., and James Treadway of Live Oak, Calif.; one sister, Alma Jean Crumpecker of Union; and one grandchild.

One sister also preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Revs. Dennis Lowe and Dale Huff will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Unity Baptist Cemetery at Benton.
