COLUMBUS, Ga. - John E. Gary, 57, died May 1, 2004.
Born June 5, 1946, in East Prairie, Mo., son of the late Leroy and Lydia Belle Spellers Gary, he graduated in 1996 from Charleston (Mo.) High School. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, was the recipient of several honors and awards and retired as a staff sergeant from the U.S. Army in 1988.
His wife, Rochella "Tina" Streeter Gary, survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mary Carr of Kentucky and Gabrielle Streeter of Columbus; two sons, Anthony Bright of Indianapolis, Ind., and Tyrone Streeter of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Julia Gary, Creacy Gillespie and Dorothy Gary of Charleston; three brothers, Levoner Gary of Joliet, Ill., and Leroy Gary and Raymond Spellers of Chicago; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester Spellers, Chester Gary, Andrew Gary and Louis Spellers; and one sister, Nellie Gary Crowder.
Visitation is from noon Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Charleston. Elder Steve Betts will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
