Ruth Greer

EAST PRAIRIE - Ruth Marie Greer, 93, died at 2:15 a.m. Oct. 8, 2004, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 11, 1911, in New Madrid County, daughter of the late George and Flora Ann Duffy Schneider, she lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She retired as a cafeteria worker for the A.J. Martin School and was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.

On June 29, 1935, in Sikeston, she married William Earl Greer who preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1949.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Janet Greer and Joe and Ruth Greer of East Prairie; two sisters, Cora Lee McMinn of Charleston and Fern Cobb of Sikeston; and six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Jack Greer; two sisters, Margie Hopgood and Earline Stephenson; three brothers, Paul Schneider, Howard Schneider and LeRoy Schneider; and two grandchildren, Robbie Greer and Kathy Greer Dennis.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at Shelby Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Ronald Carter, Bobby Ditto, Joe Helms, John Ponder, Milas Mainord and Larry Britt.
